Blah To Mwah – A Living Room Transformation

One Room Challenge Week Three

How is it already week three of the One Room Challenge? It seems like the first two weeks flew by. We spent the first week working hard on completing our “cloffice” (closet-office) portion of the living room and then spent the second week recuperating from the first week. Ha.

My “Cloffice” (Closet-Office)

We completed the cloffice, arranged the decor, installed the sliding barn door, and even took the time to hang some plants by the window. This space makes my heart happy every time I look at it. From vision to reality-it turned out even better than I could have imagined.

The Completed End of the Living Room

After completing all things cloffice, we set up our new Better Homes and Gardens Sofa along with our new Persian rug. The coffee table is one that Kenny made for me when we first got married and I am not entirely sure it is staying. At this point, it no longer seems to match my more mid-century modern/boho style, however, the sentimentality makes it difficult for me to let go of. What do you think? Should I simply give it a fresh coat of paint, or should I replace it?

Up next in the renovation process is removing this chimney flue. You might be wondering why we would bother removing a chimney while we are installing a fireplace. Well, there are several reasons. For one, the fireplace + built-in shelving wall we are planning will be on the other end of the room. Another reason is that we purchased an electric fireplace, which does not require ventilation. Lastly, and most importantly, the chimney is crumbling behind the wall and in the attic, which is compromising the structure of the house. As such, the chimney must go. We will be using this weekend to remove the chimney and patch the wall and roof where the chimney was. I will be documenting our process on Instagram Stories as we go along.

I have met and made so many friends in a short amount of time since beginning this challenge. It has given me an encouraging community of individuals who are all focused on renovating one room of their homes while cheering each other on. I can’t wait to see what the next month holds!

Happy week three (and week four now, too)! Thank you very much for your sweet compliments. I was very happy with how all of it turned out, including the new sofa. It feels like it just completes the space!
