2022 Spring One Room Challenge Week 2 | Vintage Red Kitchen
Hello, friends! It’s week two of the One Room Challenge and I’m feeling like we haven’t made very much progress. Over the weekend, we painted the cabinets (Fading Twilight by Benjamin Moore) and purchased our birch butcher block countertops. Although I would have loved to have made more headway, I am choosing progress over perfection. Small steps are still steps in the right direction!
Currently, I cannot stop staring at this color on our cabinets. It reminds me of a rose-red lipstick-gentle, but still bold enough to make you stop and look. Combine the rosy red color with our Home Depot shaker-style cabinets and you have a classic design statement that mimics the Colonial Revival era.
We first primed the cabinets with Kilz 2 All-Purpose primer and painted two and one-half coats of the Benjamin Moore Fading Twilight color-matched in Behr’s Cabinet and Trim Enamel. We have used this paint for many cabinet painting projects and it is by far our absolute favorite.
Although things still look a bit (more like a lot) messy over here, I am already starting to see the kitchen being pieced together. The next thing on our list this week is to install/finish the butcher block and install cabinet handles. As a reminder, I chose these brass cabinet handles from Amazon.
After that, it will be time to install the black granite sink and vintage brass bridge faucet. Things are moving right along even if it doesn’t always feel like it.
While you are waiting on week three, don’t forget to check out all of the other featured and guest designers over at the One Room Challenge blog. There are so many wonderful projects in the works!
xoxo
